Megan and Grandma's Wild Adventure!

My mom has wanted to take Megan camping for a while now. Megan has talked about wanting to go, and has even told stories about the times she has gone camping with her mom and dad (which is really only funny when you know her mom and dad).

So, my parent's ward had a campout this weekend, and my mom was excited to finally get to take Megan camping. My mom and dad prepared all week, getting everything ready. Friday was the big day, and Megs couldn't wait. They left early Friday afternoon. Within an hour of being there, she had two new best friends, a girl from my mom's ward and a little girl from another camp site. (Megan makes friends super easy. I'm so glad about that. It's nice to have a girl that people want to be friends with.) Megan and my mom went swimming, they had dinner with the ward, watched a movie. Lots of fun!

Well, Megan is a scaredy-cat about pretty much everything. And, the wind was blowing like crazy at camp! But, she was so brave! She and my mom stuck together in the tent and were going to hunker down for the night. And, by wind, I mean wind. My mom felt like the tent was going to blow away! Then the ground started to rumble from a passing by train. Megan sat straight up out of a deep sleep, the train was so loud. My mom asked Megan if she wanted to go home. She said yes. So, at 12:30 a.m. my mom started to throw things together, with Megan holding the flashlight. They threw everything in the back of the SUV and headed south back home! By 2:00 a.m. they were safe and sound at Grandma's house, nestled in Grandma's warm bed.

Megan loved her camping adventure. I'm glad she was so brave to try to sleep in the woods with crazy wind, and I am glad she has her grandma so close to have fun adventures with her! These are memories she'll always have!
